If you are active on social media like Facebook, Instagram
then you definitely know about 10 year challenge. It is the first viral social
media challenge in 2019 just like the KIKI challenge in 2018. In this challenge
people are posting their 10 year old photo beside current photo. I took the
same challenge but being a tech blogger I am going to share with you how
technology has evolved in this 10 year.
Let me give you an idea what was the tech of 2009. In 2009
iPhone 3gs was launched, Nokia was selling their Symbian touch screen phones,
Samsung launched their first galaxy phone. Computer processor Intel i5 and i7
was in their first generation. In 2009 a latest gaming laptop used to have
NVidia 260M graphics card.
Things have changed vigorously in 10 years. In terms of
smartphone technology you can find 8 GB ram, bezel less display, iris scanner, and
dual camera setup even four camera setup for few smartphones. In terms of
computer you can find up to 64GB of ram, i9 processor, Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 graphics
card, up to 1 TB of SSD (solid state drive) etc.
Now let’s have a closer look what have changed in terms of
technology in these 10 years.
iPhone Then vs Now:
Back in 2009 Apple launched iPhone 3gs at Rs 35000 in India.
Now the current iPhone available in the market is iPhone Xs which cost more
than 1 lakh in terms of Indian rupees.
Nokia Then vs Now:
Nokia N series was still alive in 2009. Nokia launched two N
series phones that year Nokia N900 & Nokia N97. That time Nokia was the
king of the smartphone market. And brand like Oppo, Vivo, Micromax, Honor was nowhere
in the race. Cut to today Nokia is not even in the race. I think you all know
what happened with Nokia. When every brand was focusing on Android eco system
Nokia choose Windows and their down fall starts from there. Although HMD Global
brings back smartphone with Nokia branding but fail to impress us. But I hope
Nokia’s next flagship phone Nokia 9 Pure View with 5 camera will change things.
Samsung Then vs Now:
Now coming to Samsung. Samsung was not that big company in
terms of smartphones & no that innovative too. They launched their first Galaxy
S line up phone in 2009. But if you see their S9 and S10 model leaks you can say
that Samsung has definitely came a long way and improved themselves.
Computer/ Laptop Then vs Now:
Back in 2009 the first generation of core i5 & i7
processor was launched. The price back then was very high of processors and
graphic cards. I remember I had a PC back in 2009 from Compaq. The
specification was 512 MB ram, 80 GB of HDD, Pentium processor with no graphic
card. But in 2019 you can’t even think below of 8 GB ram, 1 TB HDD & latest
gen i3 or i5 processor. You can easily get these configuration in 30k to 35k Indian
rupees.
Back then in term of connectivity beside call we
have only option was messaging. But for that we have to buy separate SMS pack
and that have too daily limit per day 100 SMS. Yes there was Orkut and
Facebook. But do you know how pricy was internet packs back then? In 2009 you
can get 1 GB of data in 250 Bucks! YES! But now thanks to JIO Telecom. You are
getting 1.5 GB daily data + unlimited calls for 1 month only in Rs 199. Next 10
years we will see some mind blowing innovations in technology like flying cars,
fully functional auto pilot cars.
