Apple AirPod was introduced in September, 2016 along with iphone 7 for those who are living behind the rock! At first impression people was not ready for this weird looking headphones. But later on everyone started liking this air pods thanks to its features like effortless connectivity, great battery life. You can say that AirPods are one of the massive hits in Tim Cook era of Apple. Now everyone is expecting a newer version of AirPods. Should you wait for AirPods 2? What will be the new features, price?

What you expect from new AirPods 2?

Well new AirPods2 will have the same qualities as its predecessor like painless pairing, great audio output, long battery life and super light design.

New features:

1. Wireless charging:

New AirPods 2 case will support wireless charging. As we know it last year apple announced the AirPower charging pad, which will support the new AirPods case. Although there will be no difference in terms of looks between two generation of AirPods.

2. New W2 processor: 

Current AirPods has older W1 chip inside, but it is predicting that new AirPods will have W2 chips inside because recently launched apple watch series 3 also has the new W2 chip inside. W2 chip will be more power efficient which will make new AirPod's battery life even greater. Apple can use the extra juice on other feature like calorie counting, sending health report etc.

3. Water Resistance: 

New AirPods 2 will be water resistant. That means you cannot swim with your AirPods on! New AirPods can take little bit of splash of water according to the rumors.

4. Hand's free "Hey, Siri!”

Hand's free Siri means now you don’t have to tap on your AirPods to activate Siri the virtual assistant. Siri will be intelligent enough and you can activate her just calling her name "Hey, Siri". Well this is sounding like a simple task to add this feature but Apple has to really work hard and make sure this feature works like a charm. They have to provide advance chip with software for hand's free "Hey, Siri!"

5. Bluetooth 5:

According to a report from MySmartPrice.com new AirPods will get Bluetooth 5.0. This upgrade will help in better connectivity, better battery life and better sound quality.

6. Bio metric Sensor:

Patent hints that AirPods might have biometric sensors.

It is claimed that apple has filed a new patient for air pods in which we can see that air pods might have biometric sensor in it. Now these biometric sensors can do many cool things. Like it can track your health report, it can measure your heart rate as well.

Price:

Coming to the price, as of now January 2019, Apple AirPods cost around $159. If the main design and features doesn't change drastically then the AirPods 2 will probably come in at a similar price.

When will the AirPods 2 come out?

New AirPods 2 might come mid-2019. So if you are thinking of getting a pair of AirPods this New Year then I will suggest you to wait for sometimes because the new AirPods 2 seems promising and significantly upgraded from current AirPods.
